Yik Fung Au-YeungThe founder of our firm, Fung, was in public practice for fifty years, starting his first accounting firm in Hong Kong in 1961. After immigrating to Canada in the late sixties, Fung earned his CGA and CA designations, and started his Vancouver practice in the early seventies.

With his wealth of knowledge and experience, Fung still provides some consulting and client advisory services.

An enthusiastic volunteer, Fung has dedicated much of his time to professional, business and community organizations.

He acted as a special adviser on Asian affairs to the president of the University of Victoria for many years (for which he was recognized as an Honorary Patron of the University in 1999). He had served on the advisory committee of Vancouver Community College's accounting program, as well as a member of the advisory committee for the UBC Certificate in Canadian Business Essentials offered by its Continuing Studies Department.

Fung has been involved with a number of charitable organizations. He currently sits on committees for the Canadian Cancer Society and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Fung has also volunteered his time on a variety of professional committees. For the CA Institute, he has served as a member of the Benevolent Fund, the Members in Public Practice Committee, and the Standards Appeal Board. In 2004, he was elected a Fellow of the Institute.

For the CGA Association, he served on the Public Practice Committee for twenty-five years, chaired the professional standards subcommittee and was instrumental in developing the first Public Practice Manual. Fung was a CGA-Canada Education Advisory Council member for a number of years and assisted the CGA Association to establish its education program for students in Hong Kong and Macau. For his efforts, Fung was honoured as a Fellow in 1986, granted Life Membership in 1999, and named one of 100 CGAs in Canada who have made an outstanding contribution to the Association and the community in the past 100 years during the CGA Centenary Celebration in 2008.

For over 20 years, Fung volunteered as a lecturer on accounting and taxation topics for the Public Legal Education Society and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. He continues to write taxation articles for S.U.C.C.E.S.S.'s Evergreen News. He also writes a semi-monthly financial column for Ming Pao Daily News and sits on the advisory committee for Fairchild Television.
